A Cook’s Journey, A Curated Kitchen
I grew up eating what I jokingly call “hell’s specials” — meals so questionable, they pushed me to start cooking for myself.
What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion. I learned by watching chefs like Gordon Ramsay and Jamie Oliver on TV, mimicking their techniques at home. Before I knew it, I had been cooking for over a decade.
After completing military service in Singapore, I enrolled at SHATEC, a well-known culinary school, and graduated in 2018. I later worked for three years at Shangri-La Hotel — as a humble line cook. It was in that kitchen that I began to realize: good food isn’t just about ingredients — it’s also about the tools, the plating, and the atmosphere we create around the table.
After the pandemic, I returned to Taiwan and started my own journey — handling logistics, packing orders, and slowly building my own curated kitchenware brand on Shopee.
I don’t sell cheap or gimmicky products. My only standard is simple: everything I choose must be durable, practical, and feel good in daily use. One of our signature items, the slate serving plate, is something I’ve used since my hotel days — and still use today.
If you believe, like I do, that kitchen tools aren’t just functional, but also part of how we enjoy life — then welcome to Hou’s Kitchen. No fancy packaging here, just honest tools I’d recommend to a friend.
